*New* Instructional and League Play Program
Learn the basics of curling with an 8-week training program followed by 12 weeks of league play. Designed for 24 players, the combined Learn-to-Curl Program and Rookie League offers instruction and league play throughout the season for individuals who:
- are new to curling, or
- have not curled for some time and want to refresh their skills, or
- have 2 years or less of curling experience
Experienced instructors lead the program, providing both off-ice and on-ice support. Participants will receive coaching on fundamental skills such as safety, rock delivery, positioning in the hack, line of delivery, sweeping, rules, etiquette and strategy. Each session will build on the previous one.
Upon completion of the 8-week training program, players will transition into regular league play in January. This will involve team play in structured games, with intermittent pauses when teachable moments arise. Coaching will emphasize safety, weight control, line of delivery, strategy, reading the ice, calling the line, team building, and communication skills. This part of the training will simulate a league environment, allowing for independent decision-making and calling. This program offers an opportunity to try different curling positions and prepares participants to join other regular leagues that are suitable for them.

Club equipment (grippers, sliders and brooms) is available to use during the 8 week-training part of the program after which participants are asked to have their own equipment. Our Pro Shop offers a "starter package" and provides a variety of options for brooms, shoes and other equipment.
Important: In order to keep the ice clean and clear of dirt and fibres (which adversely effects play) we ask the following:
- If you do not have curling shoes, please bring running shoes with clean soles, ones that have NOT been worn outside; we suggest thoroughly cleaning the soles of a pair of flat-soled running shoes and use them only for curling.
- Ensure you have warm, loose clothing made of fabric that does not shed. Layering is ideal.
