ROWAN'S LAW

The Ontario Government has enacted Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety Protocol).  The Act requires all sport organizations as defined in the Regulation, to have a Concussion Code of Conduct. This Concussion Code of Conduct requires participants to review the Ontario Government’s issued Concussion Awareness Resources on an annual basis.

Participants and Parents of Applicants under 18 - please review the age appropriate Concussion Awareness Resources below.

Please click here to complete and print a record of your review.

Rowan’s Law was named for Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player from Ottawa, who died in the spring of 2013 from a condition known as second impact syndrome (swelling of the brain caused by a subsequent injury that occurred before a previous injury healed). Rowan is believed to have experienced three concussions over six days while playing rugby. She had a concussion but didn’t know her brain needed time to heal. Neither did her parents, teachers or coaches.
